New housing and a Converted School

We were grateful to win a design award for this development, comprising 10 houses and 12 flats on the outskirts of Bishops Stortford.

Formerly a Private School (and before that, a large country house) Pearse House was a classic example of ‘arts & crafts’ residential design, but it had fallen into some disrepair. We designed a conversion scheme for the former school, comprising a range of unique and very quirky flats — these were complemented by a variety of smaller-scale, new-build elements set around the main building, replacing a large area of late twentieth century structures. We were particularly pleased with the ‘gatehouse plot’ marking the entrance to the site.
