Conservation Area and Listed Building projects present challenges beyond normal planning limitations and in recent years policies have become yet more demanding.
The protected and historic status associated with some sites necessitates additional care when formulating development proposals, whether for listed building extensions or new developments.
The initial enquiry stage is critical for gaining support from conservation officers and to enable client’s requirements to be progressed to a successful conclusion. In discharging this work stage we can undertake detailed measured surveys of listed buildings and prepare site & context analyses for conservation area sites, all prior to working up initial sketch proposals for discussion with Local Authorities and other parties such as Historic England.
In addition to our normal design-stage services, as required, we also prepare schedules of repairs and supporting method statements in respect of sensitive areas of construction .
