Remote, moated barn conversion; Suffolk

Starting out as a listed, but highly dilapidated, barn, set on high ground in Suffolk (well, high for Suffolk!) this project has become a wonderful homestead, set in sixteen acres of gardens and open meadows. Again, the long-view was required to obtain the relevant, staged planning consents, starting with conversion to a dwelling, then some considered enlargements, then a sequence of outbuildings (including a quirky garden-room based on an octagon plan).

Its historic moated setting is very rare, requiring a new bridge to be constructed to get to the finished house. It is open and can get a little windy, but what a setting!
