Thatched Cottage, Suffolk village

Being based in a historic market town, in Suffolk, we are fortunate to work on a vast array of building types, including numerous listed buildings. Those that are thatched, with roofs in their roof, require a very careful approach: “Don’t break the thatch” will be the conservation officer’s first instruction and in this instance we implemented a modest hierarchy of forms to create the required space (used for home therapy) while having a light touch to the listed building.
